Abby Hall Luca, MA, CPM, NHCM
In 2011, I left my home state of Alabama and my job as a college English instructor at the University of Alabama to move north to Maine and answer the call of midwifery. My husband Stephen and I made the trek together, moving truck in tow, and have not looked back since. We have fallen completely in love with four-seasons living and have even made peace with the snow.
After completing my academic courses and working at birth centers in Maine, India, and Haiti, I graduated from Birthwise Midwifery School in January, 2016. I opened Red Roots Midwifery in the fall of 2016. Currently, I serve birthing folks and families of Maine and New Hampshire with home birth midwifery care, doula services, and placental encapsulation.
I enjoy cooking, writing, reading, wildcrafting herbs, and medicine making, and I am thrilled to be able to offer homebirth midwifery and holistic health services to the women and families of Western Maine and the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire.
I currently also work as the Student Affairs Coordinator, faculty member, and staff tutor at Birthwise Midwifery School, and I have served as the Administrative Director of The Association of Midwifery Educators since 2014.
